Tetra - Cardinal
The Cardinal Tetra is one of the most iconic and visually stunning freshwater fish in the aquarium hobby. Famous for its brilliant, iridescent blue horizontal stripe situated above a vivid, solid red stripe that runs the full length of its body, the Cardinal Tetra creates a spectacular "neon" effect. Unlike the similar Neon Tetra, the Cardinal’s red coloration extends from the nose all the way to the tail, offering a deeper and more continuous saturation of color. These peaceful schooling fish are at their best when kept in groups of six or more, where they display natural shoaling behavior and a shimmering collective movement. They are particularly favored by aquascapers, as their electric colors "pop" dramatically against the green backdrop of live aquatic plants and dark substrates. While they prefer soft, slightly acidic water, they are a rewarding species that brings a sense of life and tranquility to any established community tank.
